Your period has stopped and you are all happy to be pregnant. And then, after a few weeks, various troubles or discomfort punctuate your days. Nausea, vomiting, pain, vertigo ... what to do?

Know first that some disorders are related to a stage of pregnancy and disappear spontaneously when this stage is exceeded. And that many of these discomforts can be reduced simply by a better way of life: a varied and balanced diet, regular physical exercises, sufficient sleep. However, these various disorders should be reported to the doctor or midwife who can, if necessary, prescribe appropriate treatment.

A list of some hassles and solutions to help you

  • Nausea and vomiting: make less abundant and more frequent meals, try mint tea and lemon water, avoid a diet too rich.
  • Aerophagia, pain and heartburn: prefer grilled meats and green vegetables to dishes in sauce, avoid spicy foods, those that ferment.
  • Constipation: Exercise and make sure to eat enough vegetables and fruit, drink a large glass of water on awakening, then regularly during the day.
  • Hemorrhoids: we must first fight against constipation; and follow the prescribed treatment (in general, sitz baths and ointment application).
  • Varicose veins: walking and swimming are advised; sleep with your legs slightly raised.
  • Swelling of the hands when waking up: sleep on your side, half sitting on two pillows.
  • Urinary disorders: urges to urinate are more common, but do not stop drinking; drinking 1.5l of fluid a day is the best prevention of urinary tract infections.
  • Malaise: avoid fasting, temperature changes and overheated places, do not stand too long without moving.
  • Hypoglycemic discomfort (late morning): have a substantial enough breakfast, eat something again around 10 am, then around 16-17 h.
  • Sciatic pain: they can be alleviated by physical exercises, by swimming.
  • Pain in the arms: sleep high shoulders with two pillows; avoid gestures that pull on the shoulders, such as carrying heavy objects.
  • Cramps during the night: get up, massage your leg, then, past the cramp, take a few steps.
  • Sleeping troubles : have a light dinner, take a bath, drink a cup of sweet milk or linden before you go to bed.
  • Mood changes: do not keep your fears for yourself: talk to your companion and your loved ones.
